GLICK Fire: “A Dream to Be the Very Best”

GLICK is thankful and proud to be a second-generation, family-owned-and-operated business that employs more than 100 customer service, sales, parts and administrative personnel. It’s because of you, the customer, that we’ve been able to pursue our passion for high-quality and innovative emergency apparatus sales and service.

1988

David and Susan Glick start GLICK Fire Equipment

In November of 1987, David and Susan Glick decided to take a risk and turn their living room into an office to start their own fire apparatus dealership, incorporating the business on January 1, 1988. Over the next three years, armed with Dave’s knowledge and experience in the fire service, and Sue’s patience and financial management background, the business expanded into the basement, the hallway, and even the dining room. Near the end of 1990, the company had grown so much that it was time to find a new location.

1990

GLICK Fire moves into a new location in Smoketown

A two-story office was constructed with a two-bay service facility near the west end of Smoketown Airport in Smoketown. The first mobile service truck was operational within the first year at this new location. In the years to follow, the business expanded the location by acquiring two additional service bays and a separate parts department.

1999

GLICK Fire partners with Pierce®

With steady growth in the first twelve years, GLICK decided to partner with Pierce® to further continue its dedication to providing the best equipment and service in the industry. At that point, the business had grown so much that a new facility was needed to accommodate their customers. Once again, land was found at the airport – this time on the eastern side.

1999

GLICK Fire’s Bird In Hand, PA, facility opens

The current Bird In Hand facility opened in October of 1999, offering nine service bays, a full-time fabrication area, extensive parts warehouse, and attached administrative offices. There were sales representatives located throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania to make sure customers received the prompt service and attention they deserved.

2001

22 counties are added to GLICK’s service area

An additional service/parts location is opened in Cranberry Township

Near the end of 2001, Pierce® approached GLICK with another opportunity to grow; this time in western Pennsylvania. 22 counties were added to their coverage territory, and the Pierce® sales representatives already working in those areas were hired. To accommodate these new counties, a second service and parts location was started in Cranberry Township. But with steady continued growth, that western office was quickly expanded to a new and permanent facility in Zelienople in November of 2005.

2007

The product line is expanded to include ambulances

GLICK covers all of PA with Demers, Braun, & Crestline sales

2007 presented another opportunity to expand the product line to include ambulances. GLICK now covers the entire state of Pennsylvania for sales and service of Demers, Braun, and Crestline Ambulances.

2015

GLICK expands Pierce® sales/service to cover the entire state of PA

Once again, in 2015, Pierce® approached GLICK with yet another opportunity for growth: to expand their sales and service territory to the entire state of Pennsylvania. GLICK now needed to establish a relationship with the fire departments and EMS companies in this new territory. The third full-service facility was opened in Mill Hall to better service these new areas in early 2017.

2015

Paint and body repair shop opens in Bird In Hand

2015 also saw the formation of the paint and body repair shop in Bird In Hand, with Zelienople following suit in 2017. After years of observing the need for such dedicated facilities, GLICK was finally able to offer their customers in-house repairs, custom paint matching, and more.
