8/12/2010 Pierce Sponsors "Tour of Duty"

At precisely 8:46 am this morning of August 12th, 2010, 36 Australian and American firefighters left the Santa Monica, CA pier for a 4,600 mile continuous relay run called the "Tour of Duty" across the United States in remembrance of victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. After going through the major cities of Las Vegas, Arizona, Albuquerque, Oklahoma, Houston, New Orleans, Mississippi, Memphis, St. Louis, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Baltimore, the run is set to finish at the World Trade Center site early on the morning of September 11th.
This run commemorates the 411 fire-fighters, police officers, and emergency medical technicians and paramedics who gave their lives on 9/11 to fulfill their duty and serve their communities. Pierce Manufacturing is one of the sponsors of this worldwide fundraising endurance event, and has supplied a Pierce Velocity "Tour of Duty" engine to follow the lead runners every mile of the way. Through the Pennsylvania leg of the tour, select PA firefighters will be behind the wheel of the engine.
Included in one of the few scheduled stops, is a tribute at the Flight 93 crash site in Shanksville. This is to take place on September 5th at 1:30pm.
All are encouraged to come out to the route, which can be found at www.tourofduty.com.au and show your support for the men and woman participating in the relay, as the world unites to remember all the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001

Glick Fire Equipment's Medtec Sales Representative Chris Woolfolk (featured in Volume 16/Issue 2 Glick at a Glance) made the landmark sale.
The RediMedic was introduced to the industry just recently at this year's FDIC convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is billed as manufacturer's first "value priced" line of ambulances, being easy-to-operate, easy to service, and available with a full range of innovative features in popular configurations and chassis choices.
"Mechanics and fleet managers will immediately appreciate the fact that we designed the RediMedic line to be easy to maintain and service - keeping them on frontline duty and out of the maintenance shop," said Dan Peters, general manager of Medtec Ambulance.
The RediMedic is being introduced to the market with a robust inventory of stock vehicles, and a shorter than tradition lead-time for fleet purchases. The ambulance is available on Ford, GMC or Dodge platforms with a choice of either gas or diesel engines.
For more information about how the RediMedic can serve your EMS needs, contact Chris Woolfolk.
